Things To Do At Shell Bay

Shell Bay is part of the Dapeng New District in Shenzhen, a popular coastal zone with beautiful resorts, fantastic cafes and bars, and relaxed seaside vibes. Here are some of the highlights that make this place a must-visit in Shenzhen.

Charming Seaside 7-Eleven

One of the most charming features of the shell bay resort in Shenzhen is the seaside 7-Eleven, which stands out as a delightful surprise. Hailed as Shenzhen’s most beautiful 7-eleven, this isn’t your ordinary convenience store; it’s an all-white, two-story establishment that feels like something straight out of an animated film. The exterior is adorned with cute eyes painted on the wall, adding a whimsical touch to the setting.

Inside, you can enjoy comfortable seating and floor-to-ceiling windows that open directly to endless ocean views, allowing you to sip a drink while gazing at the horizon. Outside, soft sandy beaches and a swimming area await, perfect for basking in the sun.

The picturesque, resort-inspired architecture along Shell Bay's streets invites visitors to pause and capture the stylish, photo-worthy moments.

Shell Bay isn’t just about 7-Eleven! The architecture along the entire street is quite stylish, with white buildings and a resort vibe that makes you feel like you’re abroad. As you wander downhill, you’ll encounter a curated string of photo-worthy moments: chic cafes, a bakery with inviting displays, and even an abandoned house that adds moody storytelling potential for photography. There are many small architectural pockets that invite you to pause and shoot.

Shell Bay is lined with restaurants, bars and cafes facing the ocean. However, one establishment named Santorini in particular stood out during my visit. It immediately transported me to Greece. With its charming ambiance and stunning sea views, this resort and restaurant truly makes you forget you’re still in China. As I was sitting here, having the delicious mushroom and truffle pasta I ordered, the stresses of daily life seemed to melt away, replaced by a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures in life – good food, stunning views, and the opportunity to truly savor the moment.

The cafe’s menu includes a variety of options, from coffee and fruit tea to cocktails, beer, and western-style meals. The seats directly face the ocean provide stunning panoramic views. This is the only beach we visited before heading to our next stop but if you want to spend more time in the area and maybe take a quick dip, you can check out the beaches below. Both are adjacent to Seaone beach and can be reached with a little bit of walking.

Nan’ao Sapphire Beach (蓝宝石沙滩)

One of them is Nan’ao Sapphire Beach. As the name suggests, the waters here truly live up to their “sapphire” name, sparkling a brilliant blue under the warm sunshine. While the beach itself is relatively small in size, it is quite breathtaking, especially for photos. Open 24 hours a day, Sapphire Beach is a delightful spot to soak up the sun. Though swimming is not recommended (particularly if with children and for beginners) due to the lack of lifeguards on duty.

Nan’ao First Beach (南澳第一沙滩)

For swimming, head over to Nan’ao First Beach, the largest and most well-equipped of the three beaches. It’s a great spot for sunset viewing and popular for wedding photoshoots. Swimming is possible, and it’s pet-friendly too. You need to walk along a boardwalk to reach it. The beach is best visited on a sunny day. The deep blue waters from afar and the crystal-clear water up close are simply stunning.

So whether you’re seeking a relaxing stroll, some water-based adventure, or the perfect backdrop for your vacation photos, the beaches near Shell Bay have something to offer everyone.
